A Provisions CSA, you say?

Well hello there!

You’ve made it to this secret page because you are someone we know and love, or you’ve been invited by one of them and we hope to meet you very soon. While this whole site will eventually be fleshed out with a fancy logo and branding, and this store page made public, we are not quite there yet. Please excuse the mess.

You may know that we are working on acquiring a small farm near our homestead to add to our growing capacity and the bounty we may share with you. We need some early-supporter energy (subscriptions), in order to make that all work out, so we’re opening up this store a bit earlier than planned.

So, what’s a CSA? In the farming world it means “Community Supported Agriculture” and is a tried-and-true system for selling “shares” of a farm’s harvest ahead of the season so the farmer may know how much to grow and have the upfront input costs covered for the season. Most CSAs involve getting a box of produce every week or so based on what’s in season at that time.

Our Provisions CSA will be a monthly membership to our farm and homestead. The goal behind this is to cultivate a community around the food we grow, rather than only selling products online or in stores. It’s a lot more fun to grow food and make hot sauce and bread for friends, so that’s what we’re trying here. By subscribing, you are essentially pre-ordering that amount of food product each month, which will be customized and curated based on what you’re interested in as well as what’s growing at the time. For example, you could expect a summer box to include a bottle or two of hot sauce; a jar of salsa or jam; and some seasonal produce such as tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, or greens. There will be an option for those interested, to add sourdough bread and/or eggs to their subscription, both of which will be scheduled separately based on the current waitlist for those items.

We also plan to host seasonal dinners that will feature guest chefs open only to CSA members.

This is all just the beginning and changes can be expected, we will seek feedback throughout the process and are always open to your thoughts!

Thank you,

Ryan & Nicole

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Pickup in S. city will be the preferred option and we’ll coordinate through email beforehand. Local delivery to the city will also be an option for an extra charge.

  • You will get an email around the beginning of each month that outlines the current menu of options and a range of pickup times. We’ll coordinate from there.

  • We’ll work that out. Either you can get more the next month or we can issue a credit for the month.

  • We hope winter shares will be just as full as summer ones!

The farm comes with 3 greenhouses, so we’ll have the ability to grow cold-hardy crops all year. This means greens and brassicas for the most part, but we’ll experiment with some other things as well. This probably does not mean citrus, however, as heating a greenhouse enough would not only be expensive but very energy intensive and that’s not what we’re trying to do here.

  • Cancel anytime!

But we sure hope you won’t!

  • Great question!

Since we’re putting the cart a little before the horse here, we’ve included the first month of the membership for free. Starting in late April, we should have greens coming out of the garden and we’ll start offering hot sauce and some other items in jars from last season. The waitlist for bread and eggs will also be open. Should we not be able to fulfill our end of the share within a reasonable timeframe each month, we will issue refunds until we’re back on track.
