Hi, we’re Ryan & Nicole and we’re building a little urban farm and homestead in St. Louis City. We started on this journey at the end of 2019 and intended to start this business shortly after that but we all know how that story went. So here we are 6 years later, a little more rough around the edges but still excited to be living here and working on this project.
Ryan spent the last 6 years honing hot sauce recipes and designing and installing foodscapes for a living. Magnolia Provisions is the combination and culmination of those skills and experiences. Our homestead is a living showroom for resilient landscape design that also feeds us as well as wildlife, and our ‘brand’ of provisions are food products grown in our garden or on the farm nearby, often fermented or preserved in a way to bring the flavors and bounties of each season into the rest of the year from our kitchen to yours.
Services
In addition to our product line and CSA, we offer consultation and design services as well to share the knowledge and experience we’ve accumulated here at Magnolia Provisions and across many yards, gardens, and farms throughout the region.
Consultation
An in-person or virtual meeting to get to know you and your property and refine your vision into actionable goals. A concept design or summary plan is included after the consultation if appropriate.
Design
For larger properties or clients needing more detailed plans, a larger design process can begin after the initial consultation. Each design project is based on the individual needs of the client and culminates in a design presentation. Further contracting/installation services can be discussed at this time.
Education
We also understand our place in the larger ecosystem and community of St. Louis and want to share the tangible and intangible fruits of our labor to help strengthen the community linkages that already exist and provide a venue for skill sharing.
Tours
We will offer seasonal tours of our yard and farm open to anyone who wants to come by and talk plants, water management, food, resilience, etc. More info will be sent out in advance via our email list and instagram.
Workshops
Skills are also a provision, especially as we careen into whatever the future holds. For those that want to go into more depth than a tour can provide, we’ll host workshops on many topics, some hands-on, some with guest teachers, both at our homestead and farm and sometimes we may even have a field trip. STAY TUNED!
